App Smackdown - Adobe Acrobat

Hello Classmates,

I chose Adobe Acrobat due to using it for many years in the military and at corporate Comcast. In the military, I used it to edit, organize, create portfolios (multiple files within one digital document), and to insert digital signatures. At Comcast, I used Acrobat similarly but cloud collaboration tools were encouraged for working with stakeholders.

This tool can be used at Stockton to submit assignments in its finalized format. Instead of using a Word or Google Doc, you can convert your assignment into a PDF file. This eliminates confusion about software versions or compatibility. This creates consistency throughout your academic work and into your professional career.

The version I introduced in the video attached to this blog is the subscription based Adobe Creative Cloud that includes all of their software from Photoshop, Lightroom, Fonts, etc. Prior to 2014, lifetime licenses to Adobe were available. Since then, most companies have moved to a subscription model, which means users no longer own the software. This matters because many workplaces already provide Adobe’s subscription software when employees need more than basic PDF viewing or signing.

  4. I really liked how you connected your experience with Adobe Acrobat in both the military and at Comcast to academic and professional use. Your point about using PDFs to maintain consistency across software versions is really practical, especially for submitting assignments or collaborating with others. I also thought it was helpful that you explained the difference between the subscription-based Creative Cloud and the older lifetime licenses. That context shows you understand how workplace software models have changed and why it’s important to be familiar with subscription tools.
