Web Tool Smackdown - MS Teams

Hello Classmates,

I chose Microsoft Teams because of my experience using it during my time in the Army. During my service, tools like Teams were crucial for staying connected, coordinating across different units, and sharing information securely. It played a significant role in maintaining organization, in fast-paced situations where clear communication was paramount. As a result, I became proficient in using Teams for meetings, collaboration, and managing communication within a team setting.

At Stockton, I believe Microsoft Teams will be highly beneficial for group assignments, virtual meetings, and staying connected with classmates. Instead of switching between multiple apps, everything can be conveniently managed in one place, including chats, shared files, and meeting links. One feature that stands out to me is the ability to manage projects using Planner within Teams. This feature allows tasks to be assigned, tracked, and organized, making it easier to stay on top of deadlines and responsibilities, particularly when working in groups. As demonstrated the PowerPoint video, these features can significantly simplify our communication and collaboration as students.

In my presentation, I covered both the free and subscription versions of Microsoft Teams. The free version already offers robust features such as chat, meetings, file sharing, and Planner integration. On the other hand, the subscription version expands these capabilities by providing longer meetings, increased storage, and enhanced security. I also mentioned newer features like AI-generated meeting recaps and action items. This is important because tools like Teams are already widely used in professional environments. By learning how to use them now, we can develop valuable skills that will be directly applicable to our future careers.
